I will deliver my speech about the modernization of education service in industrial revolution 4.0.
We all know that Indonesia is a large country and has the highest population number 4th in the world after first rank is China, the second is India and the third is the United States. Talking about the high population in Indonesia is certainly related to how the government regulates and guarantees the survival and welfare of the peoples . The delivery of public services is a real effort carried out by the government to improve the welfare of the peoples. We can conclude, public services are all efforts to meet the public interests provided by the government as the organizer of the state to its citizens by statutory regulations. Therefore, the quality of public services is one of the country's priorities that must be continuously improved to realize social welfare for all people in Indonesia.
In public service one of the fields that have an important role in the progress of a country is education. One of the great figures of the world, Nelson Mandela, said that “Education is the most powerful weapon that you can use to change the world’. Why can be like that? Because education occupies a central position in determining the growth and development of a country because the goals is to improve the quality of human resources. The quality of human resources becomes one of the determinants of the progress of the country, if the quality of its human resources is high the country can automatically progress.
In this time Indonesia is currently entering the world that we are familiar with the industrial revolution 4.0, an era that uses technology as artificial intelligence to help our daily work. This also applies to the world of education, since 2015 modernization in public services in the field of education has been felt by us until now, such as learning materials based on e-books and e-journals, distance learning systems namely e-learning, and computer-based exams, and much more. Indonesia, which consists of many islands, has been greatly helped by the digitalization of education. The facilities obtained from the digitalization of education will be able to help the process of equitable distribution of education in remote areas, supported by infrastructure development.
We realize together, that none of the regulations made by the government are perfect, some regulations have weaknesses and strengths in their implementation. On the one side, we should appreciate the performance of the government which continues to strive to improve the quality of education service for the public, on another side I see modernization in the field of education as a business arena through the commercialization of education. Commercialization of education as an economic-based practice that seeks financial gain in the realm of education. Why did it happen? Because of the rapid development of technology, all educational institutions both public and private compete with each other to provide high-quality and technology-based educational facilities and also government oversight is still weak. Then one of the impacts that we still feel is the cost of education in Indonesia is increasing rapidly, the high cost of the educational process will indirectly affect the ability of people to be able to receive education and teaching. I have read that, in the year 2018 Indonesia ranked 8th in the list of countries with the most expensive education in the world in the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) version. I think this is a crucial problem that needs to be fixed quickly by our government.
After 20 years of Reformation in Indonesia, modernization of education services should not be a place to benefit, modernization is a big challenge for our nation in how to improve facilities, and infrastructure, and the quality of human resources that we have through education. Education is the basic building blocks of success, a bright career and a better quality of life. I think the government should not give up its educational affairs, let alone throw it in the market system where many agencies are currently competing to make a profit by selling their education services.
We all hope that modernization in the field of education can provide convenience to the nation's generation in receiving educational services, especially in remote areas. If access to education has experienced equity, we believe we can wake up together - superior human resources for an advanced Indonesia.
So, today and now, to all my friends I want to say, don’t let education in our country be bad because education services are increasingly expensive. Be brave! to speak out if we find, we get, we receive our education services are still problematic. So, remember this, we as students are channeling people's aspirations to the government, we want all the children out there someday to be the same as we feel the same education without the burden of expensive education.
